Molten Plains is a monthly series of adventurous sounds and further music experiences.

EL MANTIS (Houston)
A heavy psychedelic jazz trio formed in early 2021 by musicians Danny Kamins (Etched In The Eye) Andrew Martinez (Ak’Chamel) and Angel Garcia (Laktating Yak). Their second album is coming out in mid-February on Houston label CIA Records.

TOM CARTER + RACHEL OROSCO (Houston)
Tom is an improvising musician whose electric guitar work weaves strands of melody, drone, fuzz, and charged silence into intricately detailed instant compositions. Best known for his continuing work with iconoclastic acid-folk improvisers Charalambides. Rachel is a multimedia artist, DJ and musician. As a visual artist, Orosco uses mirrors and light projections to expand perception beyond architectural boundaries, creating illusory realms without borders inside of confined spaces.

KORY REEDER
“If the thought evaporates” Tape Release
An improvisational piece for instruments and electronics, the backbone of which is a MAX patch containing six instances of intelligent oscillators. These ghosts in the machine listen to the performers and one another, making real-time decisions on frequency, duration, amplitude, and even deploying subtle effects based on received information from the performance itself.
