Before we arrive at our annual festival in December, the penultimate Molten Plains of the year will be an Improv Lottery. From a wide scope of scenes and contexts, fourteen musician names will be drawn from a hat to perform as four impromptu ensembles: two trios and two quartets. An appropriate kind of musical gathering for these days when temperature is dropping:
The cozy surprises of the unknown, the excitement of first time musical encounters, the warmth that bodies generate when quickly setting up and breaking down in a rush, the comfortable comradery that chance driven meetings create.
